  1. I’d never heard of PLoS before, and I am very grateful to have found out. From the brief look I’ve taken at their website, I’m impressed. Actually, just reading their little introduction to themselves on the homepage impressed me; I’m constantly irritated by how little I have access to in regards to science simply because I can’t afford a subscription or am not part of the right organisation. Luckily, at the moment, I have some access to things I’m interested in due to being in university and having access to all the university’s resources. Still, I fully believe that resources should be made free and accessible to anyone willing to learn.

    • PLoS is the biggest publisher of high quality, open access research articles. Coming from the developing world, I can hardly ever subscribe to all the paid-for journals. PLoS and the Open Access have been a life-saver for me!
