A pretty pointless post where I ramble on about some of the most powerful aphorisms and sayings of Rudolph Virchow, the master pathologist, the shrewd politician, and the craftsman of immortal aphorisms. In times of inspiration deficiency, turning to the masters is never a bad idea, and like Osler, Virchow never fails to come up with something smart, short and motivating. Advice on Writing USMLE and Fellowship Personal Statements: Gabriel Bosslet, Program Director at Indiana University
Dr. Gabriel Bosslet, Program Director of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Department at Indian University, recently wrote a Twitter thread where he details his views on what constitutes a good Personal Statement for Fellowship applicants. While there was resounding disagreements, several of his arguments were quite valid, and are likely to be reflected in many PDs, across Fellowship and USMLE Residency programs. Indiblogger Closes Shop: Another Nail in the Coffin for Blogging?
Indiblogger, the network for Indian blogs and bloggers, has recently shuttered its doors. The automated materials stay on, but the folks behind this labor of love, are gone. This provokes some thoughts on why I blog (or not), what happened to the blogosphere in the fifteen years I have been blogging, and whether I should continue blogging or not. In other words, a personal rant!
